Latest News from The MongolZ Team
This time, we bring you a brief summary of the latest results of international and domestic tournaments involving The MongolZ team, as well as some recently announced exciting news.
After returning home from participating in the ESL Pro League S19, The MongolZ team took part in the MESA Pro Series Finals 2024 tournament organized by MESA. In this tournament, six of the best domestic teamsâThe MongolZ, ATOX Esports, Huns Esports, IHC Esports, Chinggis Warriors, and Eruptionâcompeted against each other.
The winner of this tournament not only earned a spot in the MESA Nomadic Masters 2024 Spring, but also the right to participate in the Asian regional qualifiers for the World Championship organized by IESF. The MongolZ team won the tournament; however, since they had already secured a place in the MESA Nomadic Masters 2024 Spring, that spot was transferred to the second-place team, ATOX Esports.
Another announcement from The MongolZ team was the release of their full schedule for the summer tournament season. They were directly invited to the Yalla Compass 2024 tournament, which will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from June 5 to June 9. Unfortunately, this schedule overlaps with the playoff matches of the ESL Challenger League S47 tournament, forcing them to choose one and skip the other.
By skipping the ESL Challenger League S47 tournament, they are reducing their chances of participating in the ESL Pro League S20, but they still have two other ways to qualify. The first is by winning the ESL Challenger Jonkoping 2024 tournament, which will take place in Jonkoping, Sweden, from June 14 to June 16. In this tournament, eight teams will compete, and since Complexity and MIBR have already secured spots in EPL S20, it will be enough for The MongolZ to place higher than the remaining five teams.
The second way is through an invitation based on the ESL World Ranking. Four teams will be invited to the ESL Pro League S20 based on their rankings, and to be included, The MongolZ must be among the top 12 teams. Currently, they are ranked 17th. To move up in the rankings, they need to place high in the MESA Nomadic Masters 2024 Spring, Yalla Compass 2024, and ESL Challenger Jonkoping tournaments.
The teams currently ranked ahead of The MongolZ for an invitation based on the ESL World Ranking are Team Spirit, Virtus.Pro, Imperial, Eternal Fire, FlyQuest, and Team Falconsâsix teams in total. It would be enough for The MongolZ to surpass just three of them. Furthermore, FlyQuest and Imperial have a high chance of receiving direct invites from their regional ESL Challenger League tournaments, so even if The MongolZ only move ahead of Team Falcons, they might still get an invite. But who knows.
As for their other upcoming tournaments, their participation in the Esports World Cup and IEM Cologne 2024 was confirmed even before the start of the month. The newly added tournament is the Skyesports Championship 2024. This tournament is organized by an Indian organizer and will be held as a LAN event in Mumbai, India, from July 23 to July 29.
The tournament has a prize pool of $200,000 and will feature eight teams in total. Besides The MongolZ, the confirmed teams include BetBoom, Eternal Fire, FURIA Esports, and Aurora Gaming.
