Highlights of PGL Major 2024 EU RMR B

The European Region A and B RMRs, as well as the Last Chance Qualifier for the PGL Copenhagen Major 2024, have concluded. As a result, the first 17 of the 24 teams qualifying for the Major have been determined from Europe. The remaining 7 teams will include 5 from the Americas region and 2 from the Asia region.

The format of RMR B was the same as RMR A, following the Swiss system. From there, three teams from Group A and three teams from Group B — a total of six — advanced to the Last Chance Qualifier. These six teams first competed in a single-elimination bracket, narrowing the field down to three. Then, those three teams played in a King of the Hill format, with only one team ultimately qualifying for the Major.

In the opening round of the tournament, there were no major upsets. However, the match between MOUZ and Guild Eagles was intense, going into overtime, where MOUZ narrowly won with a score of 16-14. Unfortunately, Guild Eagles couldn’t replicate their initial performance in their next match against ENCE and suffered another defeat, dropping to a 0-2 record.

By the third round of the tournament, the four teams with a perfect 2-0 record — Vitality, Cloud9, Spirit, and MOUZ — were set to face off. Fans unanimously expected Team Spirit to claim a Major spot, but MOUZ proved to be no easy opponent, defeating them on the Vertigo map. Spirit had previously shown weaknesses on Vertigo in their match against Astralis, which MOUZ capitalized on.

Even so, many expected Spirit to make a comeback in the second map. That second map was Mirage — but once again, MOUZ came out on top, winning the series 2-0 and securing their Major qualification with a 3-0 score. On the other side, the match between Team Vitality and Cloud9 was another nail-biter that went to a third map. In the end, Cloud9 emerged victorious and claimed their spot at the Major.

For the teams that ended up with a 0-2 record, the results were no surprise to the audience. Nexus Gaming and Pera Sports exited the tournament with a 0-3 score, failing to secure a single win. Meanwhile, in a match between teams with a 1-1 record, an intriguing game took place between Astralis and HEROIC. HEROIC came out on top, delivering a harsh lesson to stavn and jabbi, who had previously betrayed their team.

In the 2-1 bracket of the fourth round, Apeks faced off against ECSTATIC, which turned out to be a relatively easy path for Apeks to qualify for the Major. On the other hand, in the 1-2 bracket, Monte lost to Astralis and OG lost to GamerLegion, resulting in both teams being eliminated from the tournament — a disappointing outcome.

Moving into the fifth round, six teams remained with 2 wins and 2 losses. ENCE defeated Astralis, ECSTATIC beat Guild Eagles, and HEROIC won against GamerLegion, earning all three victorious teams a spot in the Major. The losing teams — Guild Eagles, Astralis, and GamerLegion — now move on to compete in the Last Chance Qualifier.

Although RMR B concluded with eight teams qualifying for the Major, the journey continued for some. The six teams in the Last Chance Qualifier—fnatic, Guild Eagles, 9Pandas, Astralis, BetBoom, and GamerLegion—competed over two days for the final Major spot. 9Pandas emerged victorious, marking a significant moment for their player seized, who returns to a Major after six years.

Thus, the 19 teams from Europe for the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 have been finalized. The qualified teams are:
